Homecare/DME Staff

Registered Nurses (RNs)

Registered Nurses work to promote health, prevent disease, and help patients cope with illness. They are advocates and health educators for patients, families, and communities.

When providing direct patient care, they observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and the progress of our patients. At A Brighter Future Healthcare Services, Inc., our RN's are trained to teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury. Our RN's take pride in supervising tasks performed by CNA's, PCA's, and LPN's. They also provide direct care and make decisions regarding plans of care for individuals and groups of healthy, ill, and injured.

Certified Nursing Assistants or Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs)

ABF, Inc.'s CNAs assist residents or patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide bedside care--including basic nursing procedures. In order for good care to be provided to the patients, a certified nurse assistant is needed to deliver the routine care so that the registered nurse can focus on tasks only he/she can do, such as care plans, nursing assessments, and administering medication.

The certified nurse assistant must not only be very skilled in the actual procedures being performed, but must also be able to make quick observations of a patient's condition and report that information back to the registered nurse. A certified nurse assistant must also have a strong grasp of emergency procedures and be able to stay calm in stressful situations. They must be well-drilled in CPR. Among the requirements for becoming a state-certified nurse assistant is the mastery of a set of basic skills. All ABF, Inc.'s CNAs are very professional and have been trained immensely to handle the daily challenges of home care.

Personal Care Assistants (PCA)

A Personal Care Assistant (sometimes called a PCA) supports people with disabilities to live more independent lives. Personal care assistants are needed by adults with disabilities, including elders who have lost function due to the aging process.

At ABF, Inc., the Personal Care Assistants are the voices to help with communication, the eyes for reading, feet to run errands or the hands that assist with eating, bathing, paperwork, or light housekeeping.

Many people have a misinterpretation of a personal care assistant. They feel that the role of a PCA is to take care of people or the client. This is certainly not the case. The employer is the person with the disability. There may be situations where the client or person cannot do some things based on his/her disabilities. The role of a personal care assistant is to fill in the holes so that the person with a disability can do what everyone else does.

At ABF, Inc., the qualities that make our staff stand out amongst the crowd are:

  • Very respectful - They are patient enough to handle any situation and respect that they are coming into the client's home.
  • Dependable - You can always count on them to be there on time to carry out the tasks that must be performed for each client.
  • Honest and Trustworthy - We only hire after they have been fully screened and a background check has been administered and we have determined that they are qualified to handle the job.
  • Willing to learn - All of our staff/assistants attend special training's to stay in compliance with state regulations.
  • Able to follow directions - Our staff/assistants always follow the guidelines that are set in place by our organization.
  • Good listeners - They are very in tune to the needs of our clients.
  • Flexible - Our staff/assistants are flexible and willing to assist the needs of each client.
